Numbers
For this infographic, I created two number displays: a graph of the voter turnout vs. voting age population over the years since 1980 and a pie chart of the voters who voted Obama, Romney, or Other in the 2012 Presidential Election. I chose the graph for my final infographic.
Locations
In an effort to highlight the importance of voting in the primaries, caucuses, and even the general election, I created the location display of the United States to reflect the 2012 Presidential election results. If Obama won the state, that state would be blue and if Romney won, that state would be black.
Appearance
I created a photo cutout of President Obama and colored it blue to emulate the color model. He would be a key figure in the infographic as the President who is finishing his term.
Relationships
I wanted to show who were the candidates in the Presidential race to become the next President of the United States, and I chose to indicate their political affiliation and whether they were first, second, or third place (relationships).
Time
The time display shows a helpful timeline of key voting events and deadlines to register to vote in the primaries, caucuses, or general election in the Washington State (not Washington, D.C.).
Layout
I ended up with the layout that presented a strong, visible grid of columns (1 wide column, that spans 2 narrow columns, 1 narrow column). The layout is meant to be read from the top to down vertically.
